Privacy policy (English)
Last updated: September 24, 2026
MailBrief is a desktop application that runs on your own Windows computer. It has no server and no user accounts, and it does not collect,
store or transmit your data to anyone — including its developer. Everything it reads stays on your computer.
Data the app accesses
- Email in the mailboxes you connect (headers, bodies and attachments) — to sort it, show reminders and summaries, and detect receipts and phishing.
- Your email address — to identify the mailbox.
- Google Calendar and Google Tasks (only if you choose to connect them) — to show today's events and tasks, and to add an event or task when you ask.
How the data is used
- It is processed only on your computer, by fixed rules (no AI, no external processing service).
- Reports, receipts, spreadsheets, archives and settings are saved in one folder on your computer that you control.
- Actions in your mailbox (labels, moving to a folder, drafts, sending) happen only as you configure them or click them.
What the app does not do
- It does not send your email, attachments or any other data to the developer or any third party — except where you explicitly set it up, such as forwarding receipts to your accountant, a daily summary to your own address, or a webhook in an automation.
- It does not sell data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI or machine-learning models.
- It collects no analytics and sends no crash reports by itself. A "problem report" is created only when you click it, is saved on your computer, and you decide whether to share it.
Security
OAuth tokens and passwords are stored encrypted with Windows data protection, for your Windows user only. Connections to mail providers use TLS,
and the app's interface is reachable only from the computer itself.
Network connections
The app connects only to: the mail providers you connect (Google, Microsoft or an IMAP server), Google Calendar and Tasks (if connected), Hebcal (Shabbat and holiday times),
Open-Meteo (weather, by city only), the Bank of Israel (exchange rates), GitHub (update checks), Google Fonts, and a sender's unsubscribe link when you click it. No email content is sent to any of them.
Your control
Removing a mailbox in the app deletes its authorization from your computer. You can revoke access at any time at
myaccount.google.com/permissions (Google) or
account.live.com/consent/Manage (Microsoft). Uninstalling asks whether to delete all of the app's data.
Google user data
MailBrief's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the
Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13.
